Hi everyone,
Can anyone provide me with info on carving a relief into
a slab of green marble that is about 1 or 1-1/2 inches
thick. I've made some attempts on a few small practice
pieces, but I ended up breaking the slab in half. I
primarily prefer using hammer and chisels, but I also
own a dremel tool that seems to be a little too small to
quickly remove stock or a 4-1/2" angle grinder that
seems to large and clumsy to produce accurate detail.
The stone is beautiful, it reminds me of the marble
slabs that you would find a bathroom stall in an old
school made out of.
I think that what I need is a way to provide some kind
of absorbency to the shock of the hammer blows, if the
use of a hammer and point, rake, and flat chisel is a
recommendable method.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
