I'm happy to see a young person so interested in stone
carving!
I can recommend Introduction to Stone Carving at any of
the fine studios. It depends on your budget and ability
to travel. At your age and since you live in Michigan
you may want to ask your parents if they would like to
take a family vacation together near one of carving
studios... While you are carving, the rest of the
family may want to explore sites in the area...
Inexpensive accommodations can usually be found nearby,
including family camping.
Try a search on the web, for example go to
www.altavista.com and type in:
"stone carving" + workshops
(be prepared to read, as I received over 900,000 pages
to look through...)
For starters I would check out:
classes at the Carving Studio in Vermont

historic marble quarry)
