Dear Deepak,

Start with a good book like Dona Meilach's
"Contemporary Stone Sculpture"  which has
so much good info and inspiring examples.
I would recommend a soft alabaster or a
soapstone for beginning. A few chisels,
hammer, and rasps will be enough for starting.
