I have worked with this stone in the past. I have made among other things, a Lakota style pipe with a buffalo effigy. I was told to keep the stone wet before working it. This is said to make it easier to work. I store my stock in large jars of water. It works very easily with saws, knives, files, and sandpaper. Good luck!
