Prime Minister Ariel Sharon named Ehud Yatom, a former member of the Shin Bet security agency, as his counterterrorism adviser. The court issued a temporary injunction after opposition lawmakers petitioned against the appointment. Five years ago, Yatom admitted in a newspaper interview that he killed two hijackers after their capture, saying he crushed their skulls. The killings, known as the "Bus 300 affair," were originally covered up by the agency. Legislator Mossi Raz, who filed the petition along with opposition leader Yossi Sarid, said he believes it is unlikely that Yatom's appointment will be approved.
