KFOR News Update

Yesterday morning a KFOR International Brigrade East
patrol detained two male individuals claiming to be
NLA-members from FYROM after they approached a KFOR
checkpoint south of Shurdhan/Surlane. Both men had
several wounds, one suffered shrapnel wounds, the
other one sustained a broken arm. The men were taken
to Camp Bondsteel hospital.

Incidents During the Past 24 Hours

Multinational Brigade North

House On Fire
Yesterday morning, a house in Mitrovice / Mitrovica
caught fire. The fire is believed to have started in
the cellar and to be a crime related act. KFOR
Multinational Brigade North firemen put out the fire
within a few minutes. The incident is subject to
UNMIK-Police investigations.

Multinational Brigade Centre

Illegal Weapons Found - KPS-Man Arrested
Having stopped a car at a vehicle checkpoint in
Kobiliq / Obilic last evening, a KFOR Multinational
Brigade Centre patrol discovered one pistol and a full
ammunition magazine. Two follow-up house searches were
conducted and resulted in the seizure of one empty
magazine for the pistol in the car, one KPS
Glock-pistol, and two magazines with more than 30
rounds of ammunition.

Two men were arrested, one of them is a dismissed
KPS-member. UNMIK-Police are conducting
investigations.

Multinational Brigade East

Two Men Medical Evacuated And Detained
Yesterday morning, a KFOR Multinational Brigade East
patrol detained two male individuals claiming to be
NLA-members from FYROM* after they approached a KFOR
checkpoint south of Shurdhan / Surlane. Both men had
several wounds, one suffered shrapnel wounds, the
other one sustained a broken arm. The men were taken
to Camp Bondsteel hospital.

Men Detained
Yesterday lunchtime, in the vicinity of Stanic /
Stanqiq, a KFOR Multinational Brigade East patrol
controlled a group of five male individuals. The men
were searched and hand-written notes with information
about combat on FYROM* territories were found. The
KFOR patrol detained five men and took them to the
Camp Bondsteel detention facility.

Yesterday evening, five individuals stopped at the
vehicle checkpoint in the vicinity of Babus Sepski. As
the five persons were in possession of military items,
they were detained and transported to the Camp
Bondsteel detention facility.

Multinational Brigade South

Attempted Border Crossing
Within the past 24 hours, 14 individuals tried to
cross the border from Albania to Kosovo, illegally.
Having entered Kosovo, KFOR Multinational Brigade
South border patrols arrested 12 individuals and
handed them over to UNMIK-Police. The other persons
headed back to Albania after being detected by the
KFOR border patrols. 

Three individuals tried in vain to enter Kosovo
illegally from the FYROM side of the border, last
night. Having illegally entered Kosovo, the KFOR
border patrols detained and delivered them to the KFOR
military police.

Multinational Brigade West

Joint Search Operation with UNMIK-Police
Yesterday KFOR Multinational Brigade West patrols
together with UNMIK-Police conducted a search
operation in Gjakove / Djakovica. A total of 21
individuals were arrested and some materiel was
confiscated. 

Later the same evening, another joint search operation
with UNMIK-Police was conducted in a house in Peja /
Pec. One pistol and one ammunition magazine with 20
rounds were found. The owner of the house and the
materiel was handed over to UNMIK-Police.

Yesterday evening a hand grenade was delivered to a
KFOR Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts team.
