The police on 15.06.01 fired on some stone-throwing demonstra- tors, injuring three, one of whom got life-threatening inju- ries. In Sweden, such a thing has formerly not occurred since the infamous events of �dalen in 1931 - then under those dif- ferent circumstances that people demonstrating for a just cause, and this at that time peacefully, were fired on and four were killed. On the part of some people taking part in the mainly anti-EU so-called protests in G�teborg, there was obviously likewise unjustified violence, including large-scale destruction of shops, cars etc in the city. These events certainly signify a sharpening of class contadic- tions both in Sweden itself and internationally. What needs to be pointed out above all concerning them is that neither of the participating sides in this conflict represented anything even nearly like a just cause. They both represented reactio- nary aims. This irrespective of whether their actions in the different cases were violent or peaceful. As far as can be gathered from incomplete and conflicting re- ports, obviously the police, an armed body of the reactionary bourgeois Swedish state, committed several provocations, un- justified also according to bourgeois "legality", and in one case even opened fire, under circumstances which absolutely seem to contradict the official "justification" of "necessary self-defence". As for the demonstrations, they firstly quite in the main by no means were Leftist such, as has been claimed by all the (openly-)bourgeois media. There on 14-16.06 were several demonstrations in G�teborg, for several different causes or so-called causes, the quite prin- cipal one being opposition to the uniting by several medium and small (capitalist) European countries in the EU and to Sweden's participating in their introducing a common currency, the EMU. This was the "big common goal", propagandized massively before- hand by a number of purportedly "Leftist" organizations. But this is an aim which by no means is in the interest of the European peoples nor in those common ones of the overwhelming majority of peoples in the world. On the contrary, it's one that favours, and is being pushed on the sly by, preciesely, the main protagonist of international reaction today, US im- perialism, which sees its arch-reactionary interests threa- tened by the uniting of some of its incomparably less powerful competitors and "partners". All actual Leftists, the actual Marxists in all countries, since many decades back have always *supported* this uniting of these intermediary forces in the world, and have explained why this favours the peoples. The EU summit meeting at G�teborg was visited on 14.06 also by US president Bush. And one demonstration on that day was directed, in part at least, against that visit. This was jus- tified, as a protest against those large-scale crimes which, internationally, are being instigated and perpetrated above all under the hegemony of US imperialism. But those anti-EU demonstrations, the main common theme of all the organizations calling on people to come to G�teborg in the first place, precisely were *pro*-US-imperialism ones. It was a political farce and upside-down chicanery of the purest water when *those* forces were shouting "Usch f�r Bush", purportedly condemning that person, since what they in reality above all were doing was *applauding* some quite important political goals of his. "Hipp hurra f�r Bushefar, som �r s� sn�ll och rar", that was what these people actually in the main were saying. Indeed, on some questions some of these organizations leading those events were even "criticizing" the main representative of US imperialism *from the right*, for instance concerning the arch-reactionary international "manmade global warming" propa- ganda hoax intending to strangle industrial development even more and create even bigger unemployment in many countries. Was the violence on the part of some of the demonstrators justified or unjustified? A certain portion of it may have been justified. This if it actually was in self-defence against the unjust actions and provocations by the police, which is possible, indeed likely. In the main, however, that violence which some of the demon- strators engaged in obviously likewise was utterly unjust and in fact reactionary. By no means can such actions as hitting out against some parts of the property of even big companies or banks contribute towards the overthrow of capitalism in the world. And in this case much property of small-time owners too, whose situation is not much different from that of ordinary wage earners, was attacked and smashed. The anger of many G�teborgians against this kind of "left-wing politics" was justfied. The local ruling hooligans, the bourgeois politicians in Swe- den, on their part of course made a big affair out of stamping those people who engaged in such actions as "hooligans". They want people to forget those really big crimes which they them- selves are committing on a daily basis, some of which are even crimes according to the existing bourgeois law, such as the wilful closing down and destruction, for arch-reactionary political purposes, of half of the nuclear power plant Barse- b�ck here in southern Sweden. This just one small instance of their actions already has cost the people several billions of SKR, to compare with the damage in G�teborg estimated by them at some 100 million SKR. "Instigation of aggravated sabotage" - yes, the ruling hooli- gans here precisely are guilty of this, and of much more. The bourgeois courts in this country of course will not convict them for it. What these people and their media have been extremely silent about, in the days since the G�teborg events, is the shooting by the police on people, and quite in particular the circum- stances of that incident in which one person was wounded by gunfire so seriously that his life was - or still is? - in danger. Even in the days immediately after, this here in Sweden un- heard-of thing were reported on only in the smallest of no- tices in many of the "leading" newspapers. And in the time since then, this extraordinary matter simply has "ceased to exist". There has even been no report - as far as seen here - for in- stance on whether that wounded person is pulling through or not, after the initial ones on 16-17.06 saying that he had been operated on twice and was being treated in a respirator. Nor has there been any dicussion whatsoever of the circumstances leading to his being shot - purportedly in "self-defence". This does point to a very guilty conscience indeed on the part of those directly and more indirectly responsible for it. And it's a silence too which has sinister connotations, concerning what the so-called authorities here might do if and when con- fronted with some major *justified* protests. Among those 60 or so organizations jointly leading the - in the main quite reactionary - demonstrations in G�teborg, one self- styled "communist" one has been mentioned in the media, in some of the international ones too, the so-called "KPML(r)". This by no means is a communist organization, quite on the contrary. It's an arch-reactionary phony"Marxist" one, exposed as a such (in its then somewhat differently-named shape as "KFML(r)" as far back as in 1974, above all by me who's writing this Info and also by others, for its lackey activity in fa- vour of the then existing Soviet social-imperialism at that time and its fanatical actions attempting to suppress all actual Marxism. When its recent activities in G�teborg above all favoured that main international oppressor and exploiter of today, US imperialism, this once more goes to show one im- portant "principle" of such forces: They don't care what official "colour" this or that big power flaunts, as long as it's sufficiently reactionary, as long as they consider it an important bulwark enough for that interna- tional system of capitalism which they *pretend* to oppose but in reality quite importantly are contributing towards up- holding. In and by the G�teborg demonstrations the people once more were caught between two fires: The one of the official ruling reactionaries and the one of the phony"Leftist" helpers of theirs. This of course was made possible also by that fact that there in Sweden, as indeed in all other or practically all other countries, since decades back is *no* actually Marxist-Leninist party. There were pictures on TV and some reports in the media of a few participators' in those demonstrations having carried ban- ners with the portraits of Marx, Lenin and Mao Zedong - as if saying that the political line of those giants in history had something to do with those in fact reactionary actions. Of course it was important to some of the "official" hooligans to try to blame in particular Mao Zedong - who so importantly criticized and exposed the relatively recent phony "socialism" and actual social-imperialism of the then existing Soviet Union and its various belly-crawling phony"left" lackeys of that time who today are still around. But this attempt is ridiculous for several reasons. "Blaming" *anti*-EU demonstrations on Mao Zedong is just ludicrous and precisely upside-down, to begin with. Precisely he, as chair- man of the Communist Party of China up until his death in 1976, always made very clear his *support* of the uniting of those smaller and medium capitalist European countries, which he cor- rectly analysed in the conditions then as being directed quite mainly against the two superpowers of that time, the Soviet Union and the United States. Those two powers he in a famous analysis of the world situation in 1974 charcterized as making up "the first world", while the European and some other coun- tries in a similarly intermediary position were called by thim "the second world". The actual other Marxists (and thus also actual Mao Zedong ad- herents) of that time, here in Europe for instance, made pre- cisely the same analysis of this, as can be seen for instance in my Info #41en: "NE: Intl. sit., Europe, M-L, '73", of 18.07. 1997, which reproduced an article originally written in German (incidentially, here in Malm�) in 1973 and later published in Swedish and English translations made jointly by me and others. Some of those abovementioned bourgeois media hooligans also mentioned, in connection with the G�teborg events and with the aim of course of trying to discredit the Marxist line and "blame" it, that "Mao Zedong, that was the person who among other things said that 'Political power comes out of the barrel of a gun'". Well, does it or does it not? Did those media hyenas want to "criticize", for instance, the fact that capitalist small Swe- den keeps some armed forces for defence of its national de- fence? Something which, as seen from the standpoint of the peoples in the world, is quite justified too, in the present- time conditions. It also is a fact - which such people prefer to pretend "knowing nothing about" - that the rule of the bourgeoisie in the world as a whole, and here in Sweden too, in the last in- stance is based on armed force. It's the rule of a small but well-organized, well-informed and well-armerd minority of ex- ploiting reactionaries over the vast majority of people - the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. Internationally the imperialist system, of which the one reign- ing today in Sweden is a part too, causes the deaths of mil- lions of people each year, above all by the starvation and diseases caused by it. Of course this system can only be done away with by the use of armed force, by the people in all countries. This is an elementary truth long taught by Marxism. It has nothing to do with the fact that in G�teborg recently, there was also unjus- tified violence on the part of people who were falsely parading as "Leftists" or else led astray by some of those who under a cloak of opposition are *defending* capitalism and imperialism in the world. Against the unjustified police violence in G�teborg, some or- ganizations here are calling for a demonstration in Stockholm on 04.07. This merits support.
