I agree that a system SMI-S for Solaris would automatically pick up the target. It's just that I need to monitor that effort and ensure the work occurs.

Another area which is similar to SMI-S in my mind is FMA. It's a Solaris wide effort which I need to monitor. At this point I'm not sure if there will be any changes required in the daemon.

I'll add the SMI-S provider to the list. That's one which I'll probably need some help on. I've got no real experience in the SMI- S realm.

That was really more of a general feature musing on my part for Solaris as a whole, which iscsitgt would certainly be a part of. A SMI-S CIMOM for solaris would dovetail well with the way solaris is headed in the storage world. As for the tech behind /providing/ SMI- S, that's a mystery that I'm trying to unravel for myself, but I'm sure the people who work on Enterprise Storage Manager could lend some advice on.

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail ... but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn ... that was fun!"
