I have an alua capable array which allows me to turn alua on or off for a specific initiator or group of initiators. When my Solaris 10 U3 system, a 280r, discovered it's luns I had neglected to enable alua on my array for the server's initiators. As a result no scsi_vhci devices were created for luns from that array.
Trying to correct this I enabled alua on the array and I ran "cfgadm -c configure ..." for c1 and c2 on the solaris system. Still no scsi_vhci devices for those luns. Next I ran "cfgadm -c unconfigure ..." followed again by "cfgadm -c configure ..." and now the scsi_vhci devices have been created. I have a couple of questions. Is it expected that "cfgadm -c configure .." would not discover that properties have changed for existing luns? Is there a less drastic method that unconfigure or reboot to resolve such a problem.
