Usually on the host side all that is required is to use format to re-type the 
lun; choose "type" then "Auto Configure" then label the lun. That usually 
updates the disk geometry to reflect the new lun size. I seem to recall that 
after this you end up with a default label on the lun but if you make note of 
partition boundaries beforehand and recreate those partition boundaries exactly 
as they were before the data is preserved.

The new versions of veritas can do this automatically and they call it "Dynamic 
Lun Expansion". With zfs and the concept of storage pools it makes a lot of 
sense to me to just add more disks to the pool rather than resize existing 
disks.
