Tim, I need to look over your referenced backup thread. In general, we do intend to be very, if not completely, backup-like. The general plan (not unlike our current HSM, SAM-QFS) is to use the HSM to save data on other media, then backup the metadata for a complete capture of state. This is really targeted toward enterprise class machines, mostly using tape libraries, for now. We plan on posting project documentation soon (so...stay tuned). I don't know how easily it would be to morph the project to handle the backup you reference (single user machine). When we get the basic documentation out there, we would welcome the feedback...and can change the details if applicable. Short answer, not for now...we solicit design level changes...and are early enough to effect change...but too early to use.
