Cathleen,

I think for many new comers wanting to try the CIFS service a

zfs create -o casesensitivity=mixed -o sharesmb=name=mycifsshare ztank/ myfs-for-cifs

would be useful. Even if you already link to the zfs docu page. You mention how to name the cifs share, but you don't mention the case sensitivity; something I would expect to be on a CIFS related wiki page. I.e. the two CIFS related/relevant options for zfs.

Hi Patrick,

The How to Create a CIFS Share in the getting
started wiki document includes a link to
a procedure in the admin guide for creating a
share with the zfs command. This procedure
also shows how to create a ZFS pool.

Take a look.

Also, in addition to installing the CIFS service
packages, what other changes would you
suggest to the getting started wiki doc?

Thanks.

We can add a "How to Install" section but creating a ZFS pool is not
part of CIFS setup. You need to check ZFS man pages and docs for that.

Is there somewhere a step by step doc (Wiki) how to
set up a CIFS on OpenSolaris?

I do know
http://www.genunix.org/wiki/index.php/Getting_Started_With_the_Solaris_CIFS_Service

But some parts are missing there.
* As of smb/server is not part of ISO image

Something like start from the very beginning,
and in correct order.
1.
2.
3.
...
including creating a ZFSPOOL.
