Is the CIFS kernel module loaded on your system? What's the output if 
you run the following command:

modinfo | grep smbsrv

The CIFS service is composed of the CIFS kernel module (a psuedo driver) 
and the SMB daemon (i.e. smbd).  The 'Kernel bind failure' or 
"smb_dwncall_??" errors might occur if 'smbsrv' driver is not installed.

Do you recall what have you done before seeing these error messages?
libsmb_passwd.so.1 has nothing to do with this issue.
