Well, I can't offer a huge amount of advice I'm afraid, other than to confirm
that as you said, you definately want to avoid exporting ZFS as a block device
to another ZFS. I tried that using ZFS and iSCSI to mirror two servers and
while the theory is fine, iSCSI hangs your entire pool for 3 minutes if either
server goes offline.

I suspect your best option may be to create a ZFS pool on each server, and
offer those to a true clustered filesystem server. Now I've no idea what the
specifics are for that, whether that means iSCSI over infiniband imported to a
raiserFS on Linux, or something completely different.

I do remember Sun buying Luster a while back, and I'm pretty sure I read that
ZFS support is being worked on there. That's probably worth looking into, and
you may also want to speak to the HPC crowd for better advice. They're
certainly the people with experience of clustered filesystems and infiniband.

PS. Let me know how you get on, we're a much smaller scale here but are very
interested in ZFS and Infiniband.
