Nope. DVD drive is empty. Cdrw does work, but I need to pick one "device" or 
the other with the "-d" option.

There's definitely something veryw eird going on with the disk devices on this 
box.

My Ultra-40M2 says this under Solaris 10U5:

% cdrw -l
Looking for CD devices...
     Node                   Connected Device                Device type
----------------------+--------------------------------+-----------------
  cdrom0               | MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-85JS  F100 | CD Reader/Writer

Is it possible that you have a filesystem capable writeable DVD in the 
drive such as a DVD-RAM type DVD?  In that case it may make sense for 
a /dev/rdsk/ node to be created so that it can be used.
