Zhong,

I tried promiscuous mode on the adapter but still no luck. BTW, I'm using a
Nexus 5K switch that uses pre-T11 fcoe frame format. Would that affect
operation?

Thanks,
Roy

Subject: Re: [storage-discuss] No Flogi Seen on Nexus Switch

Hi Roy,

I don't find anything suspicious in the switch settings. It seems FCoE
initiator sent out FLOGI but never got an ACC. I doubt there is some problem in
the multi-address support in ixgbe driver. Let's try promiscuous mode by
running "snoop -d ixgbe0" in the background, shutdown eth1/11 and then open it
up so that the initiator could restart the login process.

Zhong

Zhong,

Thanks so much for your quick response to my question. The OpenSolaris release
I'm using is sol-nv-b103-x86 and the server is a HP DL140. Please find the mdb
-k trace output from the Solaris x86 machine attached. The Intel Nic is
connected to Ethernet1/11 on the Nexus. Again, thanks for your help.

Regards,
Roy Hughes

Hi Roy,

Thanks for trying out Solaris FCoE software!

Hi,

I have configured a fcoe initiator using
fcoe-nightly-nd-bins-20081121.i386.tar.bz2 build and connected to a Nexus
switch but not seeing the WWN in the Nexus flogi database. The NIC is Intel
10G XF SR adapter, and I can ping other NICs connected to the Nexus switch. Is
there a special switch setting required or is there a workaround to make this
work.

Which OpenSolaris release are you using with the FCoE initiator? Please run
"mdb -k" as root and issue "*fcoe_trace_buf/s" and "::fptrace" on the FCoE
initiator host, send me the output together with the running-config of your
Nexus switch. I'll take a look to see what's going on.

Any notes available for the SUNWfctl - leadville PLOGI to FCoE target issue
workaround.

You don't need that if you are testing FCoE to FCoE. But if you are using
Leadville FC initiator, you need to apply the package on the initiator host,
otherwise the FC initiator may not log in to FCoE nodes.

Thanks & Regards,
Zhong

Thanks,
Roy
