I don't see any problems at all with this, COMSTAR is the key. There was a presentation at the recent OpenSolaris Storage Summit that might help: "Storage Re-provisioning with COMSTAR" (http://wikis.sun.com/display/OpenSolaris/OpenSolaris+Storage+Summit+200902) Its the first session in Track 2. Video and slides are available.
