I think COMSTAR is a unique technology that provides a lot of
possibilities, especially when combined with FC SAN and ZFS.

In particular, its interesting to me that it is both:
* Heavy and somewhat burdonsome as a simple file server, but
* Extremely lightweight as a Storage Router

The way that it abstracts mappings and LU from providers makes me feel
like I'm dealing more with an enterprise storage systems such as EMC or
NetApp than just a Solaris box.

In this arena of re-vitializing existing SAN's by using COMSTAR/ZFS to
reprovision and virtualize existing SAN infrastructure by acting as
either a new target on the SAN or as a IP storage router is really fun.
Endless possibilities, especially in terms of building management and
control frameworks on top of it.

If you want to get into more detailed discussion regarding architectural
ideas I'm totally game.
