You don't to use format to try to get this (though invoking
format -e and wandering through the inquiry info should provide
it for you).

Instead, look at the output from "prtconf -v":

            disk, instance #0
                Driver properties:
                    name='inquiry-serial-no' type=string items=1 dev=none
                        value='S19FJ10PC45360'
