OpenSolaris zpools will hang for about 3 minutes when any iscsi LUN has
issues, even with mirroring.
Search the forum (storage and zfs-discuss) archives and you'll find a
handful of long threads about the issue.

If this is a concern, then using mirrors rather than raidz or raidz2
will surely help. Of course that wastes 50% of the disk space.
