[storage-discuss] AVS is a volume filter frame ?

On the Windows OS, the Filter Frame is easy to develop driver for disk, 
volume、and filesystem. 
when I view some material about AVS, It's like a Volume Filter. But I am not 
sure:
1)  AVS is not depend on the upper filesystem ;
2)  The upper filesystem do not know the following AVS.
