Alright in case anyone comes across this thread while searching through google, here is how I fixed it.
I downloaded the L8i firmware listed above, installed it. Now to install it you need the SAS address, which after some searching I realized is merely a sticker on the motherboard that starts with "SAS 5003" then other numbers.
