The pmcs driver is intended for use specifically with the associated Sun
HBA (VID/PID 11f8/8001). There is no man page because the
aforementioned HBA is not a commodity item.

Hello Lance
Yes, strange that the "pmcs" driver is not
mentioned in "manpages section 7:".
The driver was integerated in snv_126 in October 2009:
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6726110
There have been some bugs fixed after snv_128.
The driver seems to be delivered in two packages (usr & root):
http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/pkgdefs/SUNWpmcsu/
http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/pkgdefs/SUNWpmcsr/
(Most drivers, I've noticed are in just one package).
The postinstall file only mentions "pciex11f8,8001"
On the outside chance the driver files needed to be present I also copied the
binary,
pmcs and pmcs.conf to the /kernel/drv directory.
This makes me doubt that you have the 'SUNWpmcs' package installed.
If not, use 'Package Manager' to install it.
You should then see these files:
ACTION.NAME MODE PATH
file 0755 kernel/drv/amd64/pmcs
file 0755 kernel/drv/pmcs
file 0644 kernel/drv/pmcs.conf
file 0555 kernel/kmdb/amd64/pmcs
file 0555 kernel/kmdb/pmcs
file 0755 kernel/misc/pmcs/amd64/pmcs8001fw
file 0755 kernel/misc/pmcs/pmcs8001fw
file 0555 usr/lib/mdb/kvm/amd64/pmcs.so
file 0555 usr/lib/mdb/kvm/pmcs.so
Best Regards
