Thanks Mike, I guess I misread Brandon's note. I though I should have wcd=false. I changed it to true and tested and I can now see the ZIL in action with the comstar iscsi target. I am a bit confused on why wcd=false would be the default since this might lead to data loss.
I also modified my test - I now unzip the latest solaris patch cluster which has 1000s of small files. I can now see the ZIL in use with NFS. The one place I can not get the ZIL to be used is with a local zfs volume. Is there a ZFS setting like wcd that I should be setting to get the local filesystem to use the ZIL. Thanks again.
