Did you get this to work? I can't get it to light up any LEDs, though the LEDs do light when the drives are active.

Even if the LEDs lit up, how would this help determine which drive is which? The only identifying features of the drive are the slot and serial number, but OpenSolaris doesn't seem to know that information.

What I have learned is that is that you can simply use dd if=/path/to/drive of=/dev/null to read stuff off the drive into oblivion and it will cause the LED to blink crazy. So you can do this systematically and build a complete map of your drive locations.
