Here is your first problem.Both KDE and E will run slow with only
48MB of RAM.64 or better will let you truly enjoy them.

That is the second problem.New lilo needs the glibc2.1(libc6 >= 2.1.2).
I would suggest you use loadlin for now.It's included on the Stormix CD.
You will need the Stormix kernel so go to my web page in the Downloads
section and get it.hold shift then click.
YOu can also download a Debian rescue floppy either from
http://www.debian.org or an older version from my web page as well
and replace the kernel called linux with the one you download .
After that if you want the new lilo change the sources as shown on my
web page (the file is /etc/apt/sources.list) the type
apt-get update
apt-get dsit-upgrade # to upgrade everything or
apt-get install lilo # to upgrade just lilo.
then you edit /etc/lilo.conf and run lilo.
