Exactly how does one get the OS to pull such an end-run? I would really
like to know as I am trying to get on-line from that side first, and the
modem drivers are a crux, obviously.

Secondly, I am planning to recompile my kernel tonight with the HOWTO that
I downloaded. I am trying to decide between the 2.2.14 and the 2.2.16
kernel. Is there any reason I should not go with the most current 2.2.16? I
expect that if 14 has it, 16 must have it. Or am I wrong?
