Hi, I've been trying to install Stormix on my and a friend's machine these last days, this failed. Both machines run (and install) Debian potato resp. woody just fine. On both machines, in the final stages (just before installation of lilo in the MBR), a dialog box pops up with: "Error! setup_initrd: system(): Returned 1: Invalid argument! This is a fatal error, the system will not be able to reboot." Pressing enter, I get the "Contact Stormix support" message. On various interesting consoles, I got (approx.): -- [...] All modules have died... cleaning up prot_read: error:(104): Connection reset by peer PROT QUIT: Cleaning up connections [...] -- [timestamp]: 0x4002eb5b "write error on socket" sinstall: PANIC: write error on socket -- Can you help me there? I'll provide a few system specs for my own system. I tried Stormix 2.05 and 2.06 ISO from the .ac.uk mirror via wget, with cd-boot (see my other message) and with bootdisk: ide.raw (something like that). I only tried installing from CD-ROM (or rather, CD-RW). Lots of information for this bug report and maybe others: I have an AMD K6-2 333 Mhz, 66 Mhz FSB (not overclocked), IDE DTTA 8,4 GB drive from IBM, IDE Pioneer DVD-ROM used for the installation, a SCSI card: Dawicontrol 2794 (using AM53C driver) with CD-recorder and IBM DCAS 4,3 Gig disk, I tried installing on the IDE HDD on /dev/hda9 (850 MB, typical installation with just IceWM) with /dev/hda5 as 64 MB swap, I have 128 MB RAM, an Intel 430TX-based mainboard, an ATI Mach64 Rage Pro LT, attached to a Flat panel TFT via Digital interface (DFP), an ISA Jumperless (but not PnP) NE2k card which I didn't try to install providing my network connection, a Creative Labs SB 16 Pnp sound device, a Hauppauge WinTV theatre PCI card. Guess that's all. Currently running and stable are: Debian woody on a reiserfs RAID partiton spanning both HDD's (maybe the autodetection of the RAID partition is a problem here, since at install time, the kernel hasn't yet loaded the SCSI driver for accessing the second part of the RAIS partition?), SuSE Linux 7.0, FreeBSD 4.2, FreeDOS (beta-5), Windows95a (well, ok, this one isn't stable :-)) My friend was using a Pentium-MMX computer with 96 MB RAM. I hope you can give me a hint what to do now... if not, can you tell me how to get (apt line) the sources for the storm Linux installer so I can have a look myself what it's trying to accomplish at failure time?
