TC, et al,

I sure could use some assistance as a Linux-Stormix newbie!

I have loaded Stormix on a desktop that is destined to be a
Linux server here at home (to network 5 PC's and to also
do duty as a Web server). I have also loaded Stormix on my
HP OmniBook 4100 laptop.

While Stormix runs on both I have discovered the following
problems:

Desktop:

Linux-Stormix-Debian does not call-up the modem (Diamond 56k ISA)
It "sees" it and I think I have "most" of the settings correct but no joy
... is
there a "tutorial" online somewhere to walk me through this? (I started in
PC's with DOS and dBaseIII and even played with Commodores, etc.
and have used BASIC, done multi-platform networking, etc. so I am not
unfamiliar with command line stuff ... :-)

BTW: I don't know how to get to the command line from inside the Stormix/
KDE window ... help?

Laptop:

Stormix recognizes everything except for the pcmcia modem (it does
recognize
the 3Com pcmcia network card). The modem is an ActionTec DataLink 56k v.90
... need I acquire a different pcmcia card? Suggestions for a reasonably
priced
Linux-friendly alternative?

FYI: Nogatek says they are writing a Linux driver for their video to USB
adapter.
That is neat because it allows me to run my camcorder video into my laptop!
They
don't specify an amount but do say there will be a "fee" for that driver.

Thanks! Doc
