I have watched the videos and I am impressed.
Although there remain many open questions...

Where do the seeds come from after years of baldness ?
How do the new herds pass the first 1-2 years?
Anyone who has seen such heavy rainfalls as in the introduction knows that the
land does not dry out in a couple of hours, not even in days!
I live in a semi arid environment and I know how difficult it is to produce a
lasting mulch even on very flat surfaces.

Very intriguing, though. I would love to have a closer look.
