Dear Paul ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul Olivier To: Discussion of biomass cooking stoves Sent: Tuesday, August 13, 2013 6:38 PM Subject: Re: [Stoves] corn cobs and char?
Ron, In a TLUD it's all about the uniformity of air flow. If corn cobs were cut to the same length, they just might be sufficiently uniform. # I think it is a bit more complex that "unifiorm length." With a given species of fuel, I think it is more a relation of relative size (that would determine pressure drop and uniformity of flow across the fuel bed), and surface area and diameter of the fuel particle. (That will have a large impact on fuel burning characteristics.) For example, consider a TLUD running on wood spheres of say 1/4" daimeter, and 1" diameter. Such stoves would have quite different operating characteristics. Best wishes, Kevin Thanks. Paul Olivier On Wed, Aug 14, 2013 at 1:54 AM, Ronal W.
