Yesterday the council unanimously approved a moratorium on billboard
repair permits to give the planning commission/zoning committee time to
work on billboard repair language. I am not sure how the proposed
change of responsibilities for the Planning Commission would affect this
process. Regardless, for the time being the music has been turned off
on the oft repeated dance of Clear Channel applying for a permit, it
eventually being denied by the city and CC suing the city to rebuilt
their falling down structures.

Another step along the way toward cleaning up our scenic views.

Fletcher faces Finney

Two complaints against Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher that have
been bouncing
around law enforcement agencies for weeks have landed at the St. Paul
Police Department.

Police spokesman Paul Schnell said Wednesday that the department has
been
asked to review whether Fletcher violated any laws during a League of
Women Voters debate last month.

Schnell said that the investigation will be handled by a commander and
that the findings will be forwarded to the Ramsey County attorney's
office.
