My name is Michelle Hoffman. My partner Jayne and I live on the West Side. I am a self-employed graphic designer and also work part time at Barnes and Noble in Highland Park. I care a lot about the kids in my neighborhood. They come to my house when they see me in the yard and talk about stuff they're going through at home. I listen. Spanish would come in handy at times. I do not have kids of my own and I have not been involved in the school system but I believe that it's the most important issue on our table and I gladly pay for it with my taxes. Coming in a close second is providing safe and healthy communities for low income neighborhoods. I grew up in Highland Park and Ramsey Hill. Bought my first home on the West Side on Concord Street and immediately became involved in social/environmental justice issues. I guess you could say that I'm a reluctant activist because I don't like to make waves. Thanks.
