Re: Area Superintendents

From what I can find out, they act as a filter for the Superintendent of schools, which adds an unnecessary addition layer of bureaucracy to the already overburdened school system.

This question and concern comes up time and time again in our discussions about the school district budget. Although I am not nearly as skeptical as other people are about the value of area superintendents, I would very much welcome some information about what they do and why they are important to the district.

I've asked for information that addresses this question and expect to get something in the next day or two. In the meantime, if anyone has any actual information about the role of area superintendents in the district and is willing to share it, I think it would be better than the speculation and theories that have been presented so far.

For me, its not at all hard to imagine why it would be important to have a level of administration between the Superintendent and the over 100 individual schools sites in the district.

Anyone else have anything to share on this topic...?
