The only way I will go down to Arnellia's at night is if I have a large black man to escort me. And even then, sometimes it gets tense. ____ Well, Renee, I _am_ a white woman, and a young one, I live a half block from Arnellia's, and I don't feel unsafe in the neighborhood. On any given night I can (and have) counted three to five police cars within two blocks of Arnellia's in any given 15-minute stretch, patrolling. Is that the police not taking things seriously? Arnellia's should definitely take measures to clean up, yes, but please be fair to a very decent neighborhood. We have more crime than Como(where I used to live), I suppose, but that doesn't automatically make us crime-ridden, corrupt and unlivable. I feel no more or less safe living near Arnellia's than living near any other bar (I wouldn't linger in front of any of them alone, but I do walk in the neighborhood by myself)and anyway, one Arnellia's (or even one Arnellia's and one White Castle) does not make a whole neighborhood an urban blight. I apologize if I'm misrepresenting your comments on this subject, but that is the general impression I had gotten from them. I hope it was a mistaken one. But I think I live in a neighborhood with many good qualities, and I prefer not to see it mischaracterized. Katherine Sherman Lex-Ham __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
