I honestly burst out laughing at this sentance.

"Keep in mind, that the district has promised that
they are looking externally for alternative sources of
funding to keep the Planetarium alive."

So the District will fund all of the social and
political programs necessary for the development of
good little idealogues, and will fight tooth and nail
to guarantee the AFT it's bottomless,
no-questions-asked, across the board funding
increases.

If any of you parents want fancy frills like science
included, all you have to do is come up with some
cash.

I think I finally realize just how ridiculous my
advocacy of academics must sound to the cadres of St.
Paul; I don't know what I was thinking.

The people of St. Paul have exactly the system of
public education they have voted for.

And I really don't know what I'm so worried about
anyway. This year the private school my sons attend
somehow managed to add German to it's offering of
three other languages and include after school and
weekend tutoring for seniors planning to take the SAT
without asking for anything more than the yearly
tuition of $5,000.
