This is not true. I work for 3M and my job was negotiating contracts for professional services (like 3M's health care plan, which I worked on). I can't give you specifics (confidentiality and all that), but I can tell you that employers DO have influence on the rates their employees pay on health insurance. A good procurement department in a company can save piles of money and not reduce quality or service one bit.
