Jeanne, I assume this report is public.  If so, it is apparent that
this issue hasn't been provided to the proper media outlets. Maybe a
Channel 5 investigation would make sense.

No you are not missing anything.  Even more astonishing is that the
State hired a
consultant to do a re-use study of the building and the consultant
recommended
that the building be refurbished.  The report did not even consider
the historic
value of the building nor the importance of working to maintain
what is good
about the character of University Ave.  They just looked at the
numbers and the
numbers said, remodel, refurbish.

Frankly this all feels like people who do not care one whit about
the character
of the inner city proposing to tear down a historic building which
could be very
serviceable and continue to make a solid contribution to our city.
