I hope you won't feel too bad when your vacation time turns out to have been spent fruitlessly. Of course, fighting for one's beliefs is never really fruitless except when you are trying to preempt someone else's beliefs with your own prejudices. At least, it should be. I fully respect your view that somehow gays and lesbians are deserving of lesser rights than straights but I also know that enshrining that view into law would be a kick in the teeth to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and all those who fought and died for the belief that ALL human beings are created equal. As opposed to all STRAIGHT human beings, which is the REAL thrust of all this amendment talk. It is not about RESPECTING marriage but about DISRESPECTING the equal treatment of gay and lesbian couples UNDER LAW!!! How this could possibly strengthen your marriage is beyond me, Tom.
