Index of SPPS Budget Discussion http://www.e-democracy.org/stpaul/spps-posts.html _________________________________________ Eva, John isn't the one that made the GSE/Three Mile Island comparison, a reporter from Lancaster, PA (not far from TMI, so I suppose he ought to know) made the comparison in a news service story from mid-March:
"If Gopher State Ethanol is the industry's Three Mile Island, there have been other trouble spots. In Midwestern states, where almost all ethanol plants have been located since the first ones in the 1970s, communities are no longer embracing ethanol plants, no questions asked." It was picked up by the Miami Herald, and is an interesting overview of how the industry is finally being questioned by towns whose economic troubles are being exploited by this industry to clear the way for these plants to be built. I know, I know, environmental justice concerns are just soooo 1990's, but people do pay attention to what they breathe.
