The NEAT Board has decided to weigh in on the "Commission the Commissioner" question
at the Senate Education Hearing on Thursday, April 1.

cf: NEAT > Upcoming Events > Legislative Committee Meetings

Testimony will focus on principled leadership and be provided as the NEAT Board, not
all Saint Paul parents; HOWEVER, this is an opportunity for the broader community to
have input.

If you would like to share your views, please send an email by the end of the day
Wednesday. When doing so, please indicate your connection to the Saint Paul schools
(e.g., Tom Minder, parent and Site Council at L'Etoile du Nord); OR, clearly indicate
if you want your comments carried forward anonymously.

ALL input will be compiled and submitted to the committee. Any/all available are
encouraged to attend.

ALSO

NEAT is planning a public forum on the local impacts of the No Child Left Behind
legislation on Tuesday, April 20.

cf: NEAT > Upcoming Events

Flyer attached. Please distribute widely.

If you are aware of any impacts at your children's schools, please send a separate
email with "NCLB" in the subject line (pros and cons, as you see them), and ask any
pressing questions. This will help us tailor the event to meet local needs.

ALSO

There are a number of relevant community-based events coming up posted at NEAT >
Upcoming Events > Community Events

The information provided at the "Minnesota's Future: Are we on the right path?"
workshop is essential for those concerned about budget reductions and education
funding. Parent groups and Site Councils should seriously consider sending a
representative to attend one of the workshops and report back.

FINAL NOTE

Please mark your calendar for the May 10 NEAT General Assembly. We will be reviewing
Action Plan and electing new officers for next year. Details in the attached flyer.
Let me know if you have any trouble downloading and opening the file.
