No one has ever said that we will not be taking written comments/opinions at the
police chief forums next week - so don't jump the gun if you don't know what is being
planned.

We wanted to give the opportunity for people who have had interaction with one or more
of the applicants to send us their comments now, if they wanted to. Of course not
everyone knows who they want to be chief yet, but many do and this was to give them an
opportunity to get their comments in if they were unable to come to one of the
meetings.

What we will not be doing, and I think we've been clear on this, is allow oral
comments, stories, testimonials during the forums. These forums are set up for the
community to ask the tough questions and see how each candidate responds. BUT there
will be comment forms available and people can fill them out during, or right after,
the forums.

So chill out and come to a forum. Don't denigrate something that you have no
knowledge of.

Does it seem strange to anyone that the comments and testimonials from
citizens about the Chief of Police selection are due BEFORE the Candidate Forums are
  held?

What is the point in attending a forum if I can't submit my opinion after
seeing all the candidates in the Forum setting?

According to the information I received are due on Monday, May 3rd by Noon.

The forums are on that Monday evening and the next Tuesday.

Many people probably have a good idea of who they would like to see as the
next Chief of Police. But many probably don't.

Isn't it somewhat cynical to no be allowed any comment after the forum.

It's kinda like having a debate after election.
