Well yesterday GSE went before the court.... Gee they failed the tests again. Unfortunately rather than fine them the judge decided that since they have spent almost half a million in upgrades in an attempt to come into compliance (I wonder if the judge knew that many of these would have been required under the pending MPCA Permit and the EPA Consent decree), that he would give them until the end of June to come into compliance.

According to the information available to me their plea is that their best estimate is that they will be in compliance by the End of June.

Yet more promises, how many is that now??? Anyone keeping count of the promises from our buddies at GSE. And if it only costs $350,000 to do the work they are doing now why did they ask the city for a million a few years ago?

What is really interesting is how they plan to come into compliance. First they are going to route more through the main stack, and in the process add in more FRESH AIR (that explains the new big blowers they installed on the roof last week). So that it will dilute the stink to an acceptable level.

Well I not rocket scientist or anything but seems to me that they will be spreading what ever it is that they are spewing forth over a greater distance than they are now. By virtue of it going up the main stack instead of the roof top stacks they use now. But they are not really reducing emissions they are just diluting them more so they are less noticeable.

So I hope that the rest of St Paul loves to be in the fallout zone around GSE, cause if you weren't before you will be very soon.... Since many won't visit the GSE, they are coming to visit you :-)

One of the links below will give you a complete and ongoing history of GSE, I just updated the pages today.
