-------------------------------------------------- REMINDER: Only 2 Posts Per Day Per Person -------------------------------------------------- As a coffee shop owner, we made the decision from day 1 to be smoke free - and both owners smoke. We did this out of pure respect for the health of our customers. Even though I smoke, I applaud and support this ban in St. Paul and hope that Minneapolis and Bloomington are smart enough to follow suit. I only smoke when I know that I am not bothering someone else - i.e. outside or in my car when I'm alone. If I have others in the car, I ASK them before I light up. If I choose to smoke - fine. But I should not force others to inhale my smoke in the process.
I sincerely hope that this thing gets passed. If it does, maybe this time I will be successful in quitting this disgusting habit. Every time I have quit in the past there has been one common denominator associated with my starting again - you guessed it - bars. If our St. Paul bars were non-smoking (like in Los Angeles or New York) perhaps we would have more and more people that would successfully quit. And if I chose to continue smoking, I will at least have to be reminded of how horrible it is for my health every January as I step outside to have a heater.
