I agree. The agrument that all the smokers in St. Paul will exclusively frequent Minneapolis' bars and resturants it follows that all Minneapolis non-smokers will exclusively frequent St. Paul smoke free bars and resturants. We could think of this as an opportunity to improve community relations with the twin. They could learn our street system and we theirs. Brian bates Macgroveland.

Okay I have to write.
Yes there might be a decline in business initially when a facility wide smoking ban is put in place. But It will soon be made up of folks who will now go out because they don't have to deal with the smoke.
Smokers will also come back. Why? Because they want to go out. If they go to a place because it has a good band, I assume the place
will still have good bands. If they go out to a restaurant because
of its good food, I assume they will still have good food.
Its interesting to hear comments like, "about 35% of our customers
smoke, we certainly can't lose that business and stay profitable." Of course they can't lose 35% of their business. But to argue that
they would lose the business due to the smoking ban is like arguing
the only reason these smokers come in the first place is because
they can smoke.
What is interesting is the smokers who might say I will not go to bars and restaurants in St. Paul if I can't smoke. Of course that is their prerogative. The other side of that coin is: A non-smoker, or someone who is allergic to smoke can't go to the bars and restaurants now without having to inhale harmful air..
Tom does make a good point about the sound levels. I stopped going to most bars because the noise was so loud it was difficult to talk with anyone. While this is not part of this discussion, I would like someone to tell me why bands think they need to blow ear drums to get people to like their music.
