John, since there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke (a group A
carcinogen) all ventilation can insure is comfort, not safety. Enough
ventilation can certainly reduce the hazard, but not eliminate it. Smoke is a
special problem because the molecues are sticky and rather quickly gum up
equipment. It also sticks to walls and other surfaces then off-gases. Very
complex stuff, that cigarette smoke. jw
