Law firms, I think, would be reluctant to participate.
The confidential nature of the lawyer/client
relationship simply wouldn't allow an outsider like a
high school student to be in a position to observe a
lawyer's work. It's possible that there might be some
kinds of work in a firm that wouldn't implicate the
confidential relationship; say, shelving books in the
library. But these kinds of work wouldn't give the
student any idea of the real work of a lawyer.
There are other professions that would have similar
problems as well.
