I've been reading and reading the pro's and con's of this Smoking Ban and I still
don't get it.

To me, living in the city - any reasonable sized urban area - means that I and my
family have choices we wouldn't otherwise have if we lived in a smaller city and/or
rural area.

There are plenty of really good restaurants that don't allow smoking in St. Paul.
There are plenty of really good restaurants and bars that do allow smoking. This is
exactly how a really good city should be organized.

A smoking ban in all the city's bars and restaurants will not ruin St. Paul. But, it
will mean that this city won't be quite the attractive and welcoming place to visit or
live for people who choose to have a cigarette with their martini on a Friday night.

Alas..........this is just the latest in a long line of issues that seem fill the
hours of self-proclaimed community activitists who want to make this perfectly
imperfect and very fine city look like any other pastuerized and homogonized
third-ring suburb.

Be careful.
