This is another symptom of an ignored problem in DT St Paul. Vacancy Rates are increasing and rents are not decreasing. If you want to get into the Vast Waste Land that is the Former MINNESOTA WORLD TRADE center (Now Wells Fargo Trade Center), for 1,000 sq feet it's gonna cost ya $23,000+ per year, oh and that is for a prime BASEMENT location. Yet they wonder why no one will move in... Hello no customer base cause your building is empty, why is your building empty your rent is too high and you been jerks to former tenants.
Town Square, as I predicted on this very list many years ago, has lost the DMV and alot of the traffic it had along with it... Now it's turning into a DeadZone.
US Bank Trust Center (now called 180 E 5th St) is virtually empty, along with pretty much every other space formerly occupied by US Bank in DT as they finish their move across to the other side of the river. Could have sworn they promised they were not going to vacate DT St Paul when the City helped them open up them fancy new digs on the River Flats.
Contrary to the misconception that DT is thriving and doing so great (of course only because of the top notch Stadium) it is actually about to be ready to have the lights turned out. While Univerity Ave Thrives, the East Side boasts new developments, the Riverfront develops, why is DT business and support businesses being ignored? Why isn't the city working with building owners to attempt to bring in more businesses to support the ever increasing residents living in DT? (No grocery store for an area boasting around 5,000 residents?)
DT Looks really nice when you roll into it either from 7th St or the interstate, but when you scratch the surface you find that well what do we do with all this empty space?
For a change when the city attempts to try to attract a business maybe you should look to get locals first rather than the chains, cause they are gonna hang around alot longer (all you have to do is look at the history of DT and see that as soon as things go south so do the chainstores, yet the people who LIVE here attempt to do their best to stick it out).
