"Mary Zanmiller of St. Paul objected to the idea that the market, a 151-year-old city institution, could be off limits to politics.
"This is plain wrong," she said, firing off an e-mail on the St. Paul Issues Forum, an Internet bulletin board. "The St. Paul Market is (a public) commons if ever there was one.'' She said she also submitted letters to the editors of the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Minneapolis Star Tribune complaining about the restrictions." ---------- This mention in the article does not state she started a thread on the Forum. It says she fired off an e-mail to the forum. Others did too. On both sides of the issue. I am just asking why they chose to only include a quote from one side of the issue off of the forum and not both. They did talk to others in the article, whom I have not seen post on this forum, but only mentioned and quoted one side from the forum. My question becomes; was the author trying to portray to the reader, that the forum only had one e-mail about this topic or that all messages on this topic, on the forum, were in agreement/support of the one quote mentioned? Why would you have to question the motivation behind the fact that only Mary Zanmiller was quoted? It seems she was the person who raised the issue. All the article had to say was there is an issue. They quoted Gerten and Maddox. But they didn't raise anything other than the issue. No point of view was stated other than the issue. I notice that only one post was quoted. There were no quotes of posts that did not agree with the one quoted. Was it an ideology of the author? Is that the new ideology of the Pioneer Press? Or, was it a simple mistake on the part of the author to only put out one side of what was going on here in the forum? Guess we all have to make our own decisions/opinions about the motivations behind that.
